About Using Text Features

Third grade text features practice. Children learn what titles, headings, captions, labels, diagrams, bold words, glossaries, indexes, tables of contents, maps, timelines and sidebars do, and when to use each one to find facts quickly.

Level 3 asks students to actually use a table of contents, index, glossary, set of headings or timeline. There are 3 levels of 10 questions each. A wrong answer gets a hint, a second miss shows the answer, and stars are earned at the end. Nothing is timed, and no sign-in or download is needed.
