    Ordering Hundreds (3-digit numbers)

Put three digit numbers in order from smallest to biggest.

    Student Tips:

    • Look at the hundreds place first (the first digit)
    • 245 comes before 312 because 2 is less than 3
    • If hundreds are the same, check tens: 245 comes before 267
    • If hundreds and tens are same, check ones: 245 comes before 248

Teaching Instruction: Use place value charts. Start with numbers that differ in hundreds place, then progress to same hundreds. Show with base-10 blocks: hundreds flats, tens rods, ones units.
